Enhancement in BootStrapToday Release 2.8

I would take this opportunity to wish all our customers a very Happy and Prosperous 2012 on behalf of BootStrapToday Team. 2011 had been a very interesting period. Our company got funded, we moved to a new office and most important we gained the confidence of our customers.

BootStrapToday 2.8 is scheduled for release on 7th Jan, 2012.

Following are some of the features which will be available in this release.

1) Text based search on WIKI, Tickets , milestones.

Now you will be able to do consolidated search on WIKI, Milestones and tickets though this feature.

2) Custom Branding. (Paid customers)

You will now be able to upload your company logo in your account, which will give you the ability to brand BootStrapToday as your own branded portal. Once you invite your internal and external team on the platform, they will see your company logo.

3)   New macro has been added in the wiki pages to link tickets in the wiki page.

4) Resend invitation.

Sometime our customers faced problem when they deleted the invitation mail by mistake or they could not receive invitation mail due to some reason. We have now added a feature where account admin can resend the invitation to team members.

5) Milestone Progress Bar on Milestone detail page.

Now each milestone detail page will have milestone progress bar, which will show the progress of the individual milestone.

6) Wiki page sorting

Now you sort wiki pages on wiki list on edited date and wiki page name.

Ticket detail page will have another tab, which will show similar tickets. For more details please refer to my earlier blog on Similar Tickets.

8) Inline wiki images

Now you can embed attached images inside wiki page.

Similar Tickets – New feature on BootStrapToday

Next released is scheduled for 1st Week of January, 2012.

In this release we will be adding a new tab on Ticket details called “Similar”. Under “Similar”, you will see other tickets which are very similar to the ticket in context.

Following are 2 important reason behind adding this functionality:

  1. If there is any duplicate ticket, it can be quickly identified and closed.
  2. If new team member joins a team and is assigned a bug. Ideally she will debug the code to find the problem. This is time consuming activity. Debugging time increases as your code becomes more complex. Now once this feature is available, team member can check for similar tickets and files modified for those tickets under similar tab. This can give team member hint on where she should be looking to fix this bug.

We hope this feature will add to overall team productivity , which we envision. What do you guys think?

Enhancement in BootStrapToday Release 2.7

Last Release 2.7 was made on Saturday. Below is the list of enhancement in this release.

1) Project Manager Status:

Project Manager Status will give a quick view of the progress of the team and the active milestones of all the projects.
This will ensure proper delegation, effective tracking and delivery on time.

This feature will have estimated and consumed hours on tickets as major input.
We will strongly recommend putting consumed hours on all the tickets before marking them “Resolved” or “Closed”.

Project Manager will be able to quickly identify following:

  1.  How many working hours/person are available in active milestone.
  2. How many hours and tickets are allocated to each team member ( Quick view of who is overloaded and who is under-loaded)
  3. Quick view of Progress of any team member at any given time ( who is on, ahead or behind schedule)
  4. Overall progress of the milestone( If milestone is on track, behind, ahead of schedule)

2) Move Ticket

Project Manager can now move tickets from one project to other project.

3) Copy Ticket.

Project Manager can now copy ticket from one project to other project.

4) Weekly Digest.

Now Project manager will have an option to receive weekly digest in the form of mail. If you are busy you can get list of all the activity in last 1 week delivered in your mail box in the form of email digest.

5) “Complexity” field added on the Ticket

“Complexity” field has been added on the ticket which has pre-defined values as “Very Simple” , “Simple”, “Moderate Complex”, “Complex”, “Highly Complex”. Each type of complexity has some default predefined value in terms of hours it will take to complete that task. These values can be modified from Account settings as well. In case if you don’t want to use default value, you can assign hours as per your estimates in estimated hour field of the ticket.

Enhancement in BootStrapToday Release 2.6

We have made 2.6 Release today. Below are some of the enhancements in this Release.

1. WIKI will support HTML editor and attachments.

We have added support for HTML editor in the wiki. Now you will have an option to choose between creole markup and HTML editor for your new wiki pages.
Wiki markup lovers can still use creole markup and customers who prefer gmail type editor can use HTML editor.
Now you can attach files to WIKI.

2. Daily Digest

Project manager will have an option to get daily digest in the form of mail. If you are busy you get list of all the activity in last 24 hours delivered in your mail box in the form of email digest. Weekly digest will be available end of November.

3.  Member Tab inside Project

Member tab has been added inside project to make it more intuitive. Under this tab, you can assign different roles to members in the current project or you can invite new member to current project with specific role.

4. Ticket creation by non Team member through email (BootStrapToday for Support):

Project Manager will have an option to allow ticket creation in the project by sending e-mail to project by external users. This feature can be used by companies for support. Suppose you have info@acme.com as email on your website as contact email, where you receive inquiries from customers. Normally they will go and sit in your mailbox. BootStrapToday provides you with email for each project. Suppose your email for support project is SUP@acme.bootstraptoday.com. You can apply a forwarding rule to forward all mail received at info@acme.com to SUP@acme.bootstraptoday.com. This will create a new ticket in your support project. Now you can assign this ticket to your team members and follow up with your customers and track the progress on BootStrapToday Platform. This will help you in tracking prospects and leads on the same platform.
5.  Delegate responsibility of Account Admin to another Team member.

You can have more than one account admin. If you are not involved actively in day-to-day activities, you might want to delegate that responsibility to some of your team member. You just need to go to Account setting and assign Account Admin role to another team member.

6.  FileShare will supports Windows like file convention.

7.  Project to support tagging.

You can apply tags to projects. Tags will be visible in the project list. You should be able to filter projects based on tags.

8. Project Archive functionality
Now you will be able to archive projects once they are complete.

BootStrapToday Release Notes

On last weekend we made a new release of BootStrapToday containing many bug fixes and enhancements, following is the list of  features added in last release

  1. Revamped email notifications:
    • Option to configure project level notifications, add a cc list to track all changes, notify me for project  manger
    • Notification for new files attached to ticket
    • Notification for ticket comments
    • Notifications related to fileshare, option to notify all project members on file upload.
  2. Participants field on tickets :
Many times we want to keep many other people in the loop who are not part of the ticket but they still want to  receive notification and monitor developments on the ticket to achieve this objective participant field is added to tickets.
  3. Support for ticket creation & updation through email :
Many time we are on the move and do not have access to web but want to quickly add comment to a ticket or create a new one, to get more details read BootStrapToday now supports Email Interface
  4. Natural sort on ‘subject’ in the ticket list table.
Natural sort results more inline with ‘human’ expectations. For example, sorting  ‘1. xyz’, ‘2. xyz’ and ’11.xyz’ by standard dictionary sort will result in ‘1.xyz’, ’11.xyz’ and ‘2.xyz’. Generally this not expected by the user. The using natural sort the results are in ‘1.xyz’, ‘2.xyz’ and ’11.xyz’.
  5. Hyperlinks in Ticket description and comments:
    • If there are any hyperlinks (like http://google.com), in ticket description and comments, there links are now a ‘click-able’ hyper links.
    • If ticket description, comment contain references to other tickets in any project in the account, then these are converted to ‘click-able’ links. For example, lets assume there are two projects in account XPRJ and YPRJ. User is adding a new tickets in project XPRJ. In the description he adds references to XPRJ-5 (i.e. a ticket in XPRJ project) and YPRJ-7 (i.e. a ticket in project YPRJ). After ticket is saved, user is redirected to ‘ticket details’ page. On the details page, now the references to XPRJ-5 or YPRJ-7 will be ‘click-able’ links. When user clicks on XPRJ-5 link, he will go directly to XPRJ-5 details page.
    • If the referenced ticket (e.g. YPRJ-7) is closed then it will be shown with a strike-through line.
  6. Fileshare improvements:
Now you can add description to your uploaded file and notify project members of uploaded files. Fileshare UI is also improved.
  7. Quick Create and Quick Edit Ticket action has been added on User Dashboard
So that user can directly create a new ticket in the active milestone or edit an existing ticket assigned to him.
  8. Enhanced UI for adding roles and permissions.
